STEP 9 : SCHEDULE TIME FOR TASTINGS

People will remember what you served at your wedding – especially if it is delicious and beautifully presented.  So know that  “food tastings” are important.

Schedule a tasting with your venue, or with serveral independent caterers if you have options and need to select just one- and make it a time when both you and your groom are available to attend.  Also, make sure the food items you choose serve the number of people you’re inviting.

STEP 8:  ALLOW ADEQUATE TIME FOR YOUR DRESS TO ARRIVE

Whether you pick your perfect gown as soon as you get engaged, or wait a bit, deliberating over dresses over the course of several months, make sure you allow plenty of time to get your gown in perfect shape.  Most gowns will require some kind of alteration, whether its simply raising a hem, or totally resizing a bodice. Also, do not forget to budget for the alterations.

You want to be comfortable, to have a dress that’s easy to move around in is important!  Remember, it can take five or six months for a wedding dress to arrive once it’s ordered, and another four to eight weeks for alterations to be completed.  That’s a lot of time . Don’t put yourself into panic mode by leaving your gown purchase until a couple of months before the big day.

STEP 7: CHOOSE QUALITY INVITATIONS

No matter what…” don’t skimp on invitations!”  Invitations offer guests the first impression of your wedding.  Also, make sure the wording on your invitation  is proper, and that it is spelled correctly, and is grammatically correct.

Invitations set the tone. Think about what you want your wedding to be, and have the invitations reflect that.  Taking samples of the invitation with you when visiting  other vendors is a good way to coordinate their services with it.

When mailing invitations, send them no later than two months prior to the weeding.   Two months prior to the wedding give you enough time to set a deadline for RSVPs for the three weeks prior to the wedding.  This deadline will give you time to go through them, organize them, turn in your guest count to all your vendors, and begin working on a seating chart, with time to spare.

REMEMBER:  “Don’t skimp on invitations!”
